The documentation requirements for a US Passport aren't JUST a birth certificate. It's ONE of the following five possibilities:

-Previously issued, undamaged U.S. Passport
-Certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state*
-Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth
-Naturalization Certificate
-Certificate of Citizenship

Of these five listed, 4 are available to people who are NOT natural born US Citizens. And since the POTUS has to be a natural US citizen, that's 4 ways a non US born citizen could have a passport.

I think it is highly justifiable that the POTUS reveal an original birth certificate. Especially in times of such controversy. It is a Constitutional requirement that the POTUS be a US born, natural citizen. He's the leader of the entire country, so yes, it's perfectly acceptable to ask for proof of his citizenship status.

However, Obama has done that (at least to my satisfaction) and it's time we move on.

Re: For Anyone Curious About Obama’s Birth Certificate

Try living in Delaware...

The "infamous" town hall meeting going about the Interwebs right now with Mike Castle is from far south Delaware..

Re: For Anyone Curious About Obama’s Birth Certificate

I can't believe how many ignorant people there are in this world. It disappoints me that NEWS organizations are wasting ANY time with this.

I would hope that NOBODY in the general public has access to my birth certificate. It's an important document used to secure identification. Identity theft is bad enough without birth certificates being made public. I have a passport. To get that, I needed to supply my birth certificate. At this point, the PASSPORT is direct evidence that I am am American citizen. If I need to prove that fact, I need only show my passport .. not my birth certificate.

I've never seen a bunch of sore losers like this before (well .. not since third grade). It is pathetic.
