Islam: It’s the Intolerance That’s Scary
I'd like to reply this more later, but I only have time for a couple comments.
First, your fear is rational but not necessarily accurate. I don't know what the future holds but I see the world a little differently. I see our economy (both our internal structures and our international structures) greatly affecting other nations. It may seem selfish to be happy to bring other countries down with us but at least it kind of evens out. We may see new world superpowers arise out of this but that doesn't mean we can be walked all over by other countries, our national defense will still be a huge priority.
If it really gets that bad, there will surely be an increase in crime but also innovation. Companies with poor business practices will go under and be replaced by new technologies and small businesses. Recessions are a natural part of economies and serve to help in many other ways. [ http://www.google.com/search?q=recession+is+a+g... ] But lastly, other things one can do is look for a more steady, stable job, move to a more suburban or rural area and invest in things that are unlikely to lose value (too much): land, natural resources like gold, etc
Buy a shotgun, some shells, a case of tuna, bars of gold, and head for the hills! :)
I don't think the 2-4 week idea is that crazy of an idea, in fact, my family is already prepared for it. Here's to hoping for the best and preparing for the worst!
I already have a back-up hq in the hills, and further stations deeper towards Yosemite as called for, when necessary.

I understand your plight my friend... but also I don't. You are employed at this time, with probably a decent little nest egg put away to take care of things should you lose your job. I haven't seen any real work for going on 2 years now.... I own the company and I am entitled to NO benefits of unemployment in any way. For a while now I have shifted gears and am trying to reemerge victorious by getting a nice tech job... yeah.. thats been fun..
I have been on the verge of losing my entire livelyhood which includes my vehciles AND my home and I do not have any family in which to rely upon in a time of need. I have much reason to suspect that the only thing you ahve to worry about is being bored for a few months should the economy have to throw up all over the rug and reinvent itself.
America is a trained slave class of 330 million heads. Chaos will not ensue. We are too important a piece of productive property for our owners to let anything that bad happen to us.
You have money in the bank, a job to go to, a woman to come home to and roof over your head. You have all your arms and legs and damn good head on your shoulders. Suck it up Private. I would kill to be in your shoes.
If faith in USA's economy tanks prices on things produced internally will not go through the roof -the bigwigs will make sure the plebes have their bread and circuses.
What will go up is the price on imported items particularly gas and out of season produce.
I completely agree with you.
3-4 weeks seems a little short to me though. I would hope for 3-4 weeks because I only have about 55 gallons of water stored. I have about a years worth of MREs, Dried Fruits, nuts, etc.
I recommend www.survialblog.com

It's a must read, everyday! Everything you need to know and expect in a situation when SHTF (shit hits the fan) is on that website. Even if you don't read it, print it out and store it. You might need it.

www.europac.net (peter schiff)....put your bet on survival and other economies. Don't put all your ducks in one place but yes, prepare.
5 5ga. gas cans will help you out too. Make sure you get the additive...it will allow you to store the gas for 6 months plus. Rotate it.

www.beprepared.com - It's where I've got all of my MRE's, freeze dried foods, and water barrels. It's the best deal I could find.
Silver and gold, physical...is also a good idea. It's hard to even find silver right now though....
I love this website...being a network engineer and being "awake," it's nice to read your website. Keep up the good work.
